We Won’t Run

Sarah Blasko constantly surprises me with the haunting songs released. to me these songs show her talent well.

No one else to blame

These late nights are becoming somewhat of a habit; the price to pay for an education.  At least finding Matt Corby’s stripped back version of ‘Brother’ has cracked a smile!

Scotland, i wish you had stayed

Flatsound give a very gentle, somber tone, only emphasised more by the rough demo recordings provided. The name-your-price album ‘Scotland, i wish you had stayed’ is possibly the most personal album i’ve ever heard. To me this expresses the artists most personal thoughts, making for this beautifully simple album, in which any mistakes are easily forgotten.
‘Scotland, i wish you had stayed’ can be found here. Although free, this definitely justifies a small donation.

Today i found myself surprised when i stumbled across a music session featuring none other than Iwan Rheon – The actor who played Simon in Misfits. What surprised me even more was the quality of the music he preformed.
Tonight is a bad night, at least something productive has came from these hours sat staring at the computer screen.

Lo-Fi Tuesdays #2

This essay isn’t going to write itself! Here’s a quick morning post before a hard days graft begins.
Happy Tuesdays guys

Passion Pusher – Darling

She’s morphine, Queen of my vaccine

Tonight has been spent in possibly the most exciting way anybody could possibly spend a Monday night – writing a Personal Statement! On a slightly lighter note, I’ve reinstated my love for reading. Books in my opinion are very undervalued, and i’d definitely suggest everybody to pick up a book and take a few hours away from their busy schedules of life once in a while.
I’ve only got one song worth mentioning for tonight, despite most people most likely already having heard this track; it couldnt go without a mention at some point on OutrunTheGun. Alt-J took blogs by storm earlier this year, more specifically with their track ‘Breezeblocks’. This is definitely the strongest song from their release, having a very unique strong tone. Alt-J’s album deserves a thorough listen, the album features a massive variety in track style; so there’s bound to be a track to most peoples liking!

Bring me back, Love

This past month has been quite strange for me. I’ve met new faces, made new friends, and remembered old ones. I’ve been in some bad places, and in contrast; made some great memories worth keeping. Hard times really do bring to light the people who are worth knowing.
These two great songs have been on repeat compulsively lately. The melancholy tone ‘The Amazing Broken Man’ brings matches my subdued thoughts perfectly, and brings out a very nostalgic mood. I’m not quite sure if i like this or not, who knows? The only thing that’s certain is i’m stuck for now.
The Amazing Broken Man is a Brazilian singer/songwriter; who does however, sing in English. From his small collection of recordings, these two may be better recognized from the UK Skins TV show soundtrack. Both being chosen for their calm melancholy tone to compliment emotional scenes, i think these are the two strongest songs from the four released on the EP.
Whilst The Amazing Broken Man seems to have ended, with no evidence of activity within years, a quick Google search can find their free EP to be downloaded.

Flight Facilities

Here are two very different tracks by the previously featured Flight Facilities. The first song is a contemporary adaptation of the the classical Clair de Lune arrangement, i love the deep melancholy tone to this song. The second being an original by Flight Facilities, having a very 80′s Disco sound. Both of these tracks are very different, yet equally as catchy; showcasing Flight Facilities versatility perfectly.
Happy Sunday.

Lo-Fi Tuesdays #1

Today is the start of Lo Fi Tuesdays, my first weekly post. The focus is on minimalistic beats, and chilled tracks.
With recent times being so busy, this should at least ensure one post a week!

London Bridges shows everything i love about the modern LoFi genre of music, sounding minimalistic gritty and full of feeling, all with an underlying melancholy feel.

The Essence are slightly more upbeat, whilst still being great tracks!

London Bridges – 4.a.m

London Bridges – I Want It

The Essence – Don’t Sleep

The Essence – Outro

Protect us from the madness

James Vincent McMorrows ‘This Old Dark Machine’ is one of his earlier songs. I still believe it to be one of his stronger, more haunting tracks to date.
Whilst listening to McMorrow, i found another haunting track from the SK sessions. This time in the form of Divine Paiste’s ‘The Lake’. I’ve yet to find any flaws with either of these tracks, enjoy.
